This Privacy Policy explains how CarLog (“CarLog”, “the app”) handles information when you use the application.
CarLog is developed and provided by Express Buy OÜ, Estonia.
1. Overview
CarLog is an Android application for maintaining a personal vehicle ownership record, including vehicles, odometer readings, fuel, maintenance, repairs, expenses, reminders, documents, statistics, and vehicle history.
CarLog is designed to operate primarily on the user's device. The app does not require a CarLog user account.
2. Information handled by CarLog
CarLog may process and store information necessary to provide its functionality, including:
This information is used to provide CarLog's vehicle-record, calculation, reminder, statistics, document, history, backup, export, and subscription features.
3. Vehicle and ownership data
Vehicle records and ownership-related information entered into CarLog are primarily stored locally on the user's Android device.
CarLog uses this information to calculate and display vehicle statistics such as fuel usage where sufficient data is available, mileage, costs, cost per distance, maintenance history, reminders, and other results requested by the user.
CarLog does not use vehicle details, VINs, registration numbers, mileage, fuel records, service history, expenses, notes, documents, or attachments for advertising or user profiling.
4. Device and regional settings
CarLog may use device-provided date, time, time-zone, locale, language, and related system settings as necessary to record and display vehicle information, format units and dates, and perform calculations.
This information is used for application functionality and is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
5. Storage, backup, restore, and export
CarLog stores application data primarily on your Android device.
The app can create local .carlog backup files, CSV exports, and Vehicle History PDF reports at the user's request and can restore compatible CarLog backup data selected by the user.
Files exported or backed up by the user may contain vehicle information, VIN or registration information, mileage, fuel, maintenance, repair and expense history, notes, documents, and attachments. The user controls where those files are stored, copied, or shared after creation.
CarLog does not provide a CarLog cloud account for storing your vehicle history.
6. Google Play subscriptions
CarLog offers an optional auto-renewing Premium subscription through Google Play.
Purchase transactions are processed by Google Play. Express Buy OÜ does not receive or store your full payment card or banking details through CarLog.
The app may receive and process information from Google Play necessary to determine subscription status, provide subscription entitlement, acknowledge eligible purchases, and restore an eligible subscription.
Google's handling of purchase and payment information is governed by Google's applicable privacy policies and terms.
7. Third-party services
CarLog uses Android platform services and Google Play services necessary to provide application functionality, including Google Play Billing for subscriptions.
These services may process technical or transaction-related information according to their own applicable privacy policies and terms.
CarLog does not use third-party advertising SDKs.
8. Analytics and advertising
CarLog does not contain advertising.
CarLog does not use advertising identifiers for advertising purposes.
CarLog does not use vehicle or ownership records to build advertising profiles or track users across apps or websites.
9. Sale of personal data
Express Buy OÜ does not sell personal data collected through CarLog.
10. Data sharing
CarLog does not intentionally transmit your locally stored vehicle details, VINs, registration numbers, odometer readings, fuel records, maintenance or repair history, expenses, notes, documents, or attachments to Express Buy OÜ as part of its core vehicle-record functionality.
Information may be processed by Android, Google Play, or other system services when necessary to perform functionality requested by the user, including subscription processing and file operations initiated by the user.
11. Data retention and deletion
Application data is generally retained locally on your device until you edit or delete it, restore different data, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app, subject to Android's application data and backup behavior.
Backup, CSV, PDF, and other exported files created outside the app remain under the user's control and may remain after the app is uninstalled.
Purchase records and transaction information maintained by Google Play are subject to Google's own retention policies.
12. Permissions
CarLog may request or use Android permissions and system capabilities necessary for its functionality, including Internet access for Google Play Billing, notification capabilities for vehicle and document reminders, and Android file-selection or document-access capabilities for backups, restores, exports, and user-selected attachments.
CarLog does not require access to your contacts or microphone for its current core functionality. Files or images are accessed only when selected by the user through applicable Android system interfaces.
Permissions and system capabilities are used only as necessary to provide application features.
13. Children's privacy
CarLog is a general-purpose vehicle ownership utility application and is not specifically designed or directed at children.
14. Security
Reasonable measures are taken in the design of CarLog to limit access to information to what is necessary for application functionality.
No method of electronic storage, network communication, or processing can guarantee absolute security.
Users should protect exported backup, CSV, PDF, document, and attachment files because those files may contain vehicle and ownership information.
15. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when CarLog's functionality, data practices, legal requirements, or third-party services change.
The current version will be published on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
